Dallas has some snazzy new gold sneakers for the Mother's Day 5k run. She's bummed to learn that Dalia won't be waiting for her at the finish line. That's because her daughter has decided to spend Mother's Day in Israel with her father instead.

On the bright side, Dalia promises to eat a kebab in her honor. Dallas takes a big lead during the race until she trips, hurting her ankle and has to be taken to the hospital. Lisa is still awaiting DNA test results to prove that Shelia isn't really her mom. That's why she doesn't want to participate in all the festivities Fred has planned for Mother's Day.

DNA results ultimately prove that Sheila is, indeed, Lisa's mother. As for Sheila, she wins the Mother's Day 5k. Her victory celebration includes a live performance by her favorite music artist, James Ingram.

Alex, described as a free-spirited singer-songwriter, will first appear in the sixth episode of the season, when her mother plots to bring Alex and Tessa together. The casting of Tessa's mom has been a long time coming. The character was originally set to be cast in Season 1 before her introduction was pushed back to Season 2.

She is portrayed by Malin Akerman. Alex is the biological mother of Tessa Altman. She ran away from her responsibilites when Tessa was born, so that left George with Tessa. It is revealed that George got sole custody of his daughter after that. Alex comes to visit Chatswin, and to see Tessa in " The Wishbone " but Tessa thought that Alex was going to be meeting up with her and her grandmother in Manhattan.

When Tessa comes home after a disappointing day in the city, she finally sees her mother for the first time at their house. They then talk and bond. In " Krampus ", Alex comes back to take Tessa to Manhattan, so that the two of them can spend Christmas together. After a day with her mother, Tessa realizes that she would rather be home with her father in Chatswin.
